Friesian Dreams And Spots
Friesian Dreams And Spots
The Friesian Horse captured my heart about 10 years ago. At first I thought... look at those ugly hairy horses... all black...how boring!! Then I looked again...How Magnificent was this creature I was looking at!!!! As my “look” turned into a gaze... I noticed the long flowing mane and tail, black and curly, the beautiful swan neck - so upright and noble. The perfectly shaped ears, the short back, perfectly muscled...What an amazing horse. I had never in my life seen such a perfect conformation. I knew in that moment that I had to own one.
As I researched the Friesian, I found these large, versatile, charismatic animals possess a character of a giving, honest nature. They want nothing more than to please! Versatility...plays a large role. Not only are these horses famed for their ultimate driving ability but their capability in dressage is being recognized, as well as, western pleasure, combined training and the enjoyment of them for recreation. The willingness, heart and honesty has led me to appreciate this majestic, noble animal. The combination of their versatility, athleticism and intelligence is unsurpassed.
It was eight years later when I was able to save up enough money to purchase my first Friesian. I knew that i wanted a Stallion but couldn’t afford one. So I sought out a colt. In December of 2004 I found him...He was in the Netherlands with his mother...and at the tender age of 7 months - I flew him over.
